proximity to the Asian markets, this is understandable. However, Southern California's largest investor is actually the European Union, which provides over 6 million jobs in the United States, and is the largest direct investor in California. The European Union's investments and jobs created in Southern California are greater than all the Asia-Pacific markets combined.
Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Providing a vehicle to increase awareness by Southern Claifornia businesses and government of the opportunities for forming and strengthening business relationships within the EU, and in particular with new members and aspiring members to the EU.
- Using its network with local chambers of commerce, business associations and contacts, economic development agencies and local government to support European trade and investment. The European Business Council will assist in identifying industry sectors and local projects where European companies and organizations may have an opportunity to bid or compete, and facilitate introductions.
- Finance trade deals between Europe and North America though our connections at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), and the World Bank
- Providing support for pan-European countries that do not yet have trade representatives, business councils or chambers of commerce in Southern California.
- Facilitating awareness in the local business community of specific industry sectors in Europe that can contribute to the local economy, e.g. mass transportation, homeland security, environmental technology, construction materials, film distribution, food and beverage services, et. al.
- Encouraging and developing closer ties between European and Southern California business and academic institutions.
- Facilitating import and export deals and contracts between Southern California and the European Union
- Support and promote European cultural exchange and periodic events.
